Georgia Amoore starred on her WNBL debut as Perth Lynx defeated reigning premiers Townsville Fire 86-83.

The Perth Lynx defeated reigning premiers Townsville Fire 86-83 in a grand final rematch at the Perth High Performance Centre on Saturday, claiming their first win of the WNBL season.

Georgia Amoore, on her highly anticipated WNBL debut, delivered 13 points and seven assists despite missing significant time with foul issues. She secured a crucial defensive steal with 31 seconds remaining after Haley Peters scored for Townsville. Import Teonni Key added 15 points and three blocks for Perth, though she fouled out in the final quarter, and Steph Gorman made five three-pointers.

Perth fielded a largely different squad after losing Amy Atwell, Ally Wilson and Han Xu in the off-season. Amoore arrived in Western Australia just days before the game and stepped in to fill the role of superstar Sami Whitcomb, who is out for the season with a knee injury. Coach Ryan Petrik expressed concerns about foul calls against Teonni Key, saying some were non-fouls or soft. Townsville played without three-point specialist Miela Sowah (competing in WNBA finals), but Alicia Froling (15 points, 10 rebounds) and grand final MVP Courtney Woods (20 points, nine rebounds, nine assists) performed strongly.
