M25 closure near Heathrow to disrupt Berkshire drivers

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 19 Oct, 13:02 · Archive

The M25 anticlockwise carriageway at junction 15 will close from 8pm Saturday to 10am Sunday.

The M25 anticlockwise carriageway at junction 15, between the M4 slip roads, will close from 8pm on Saturday, October 24, until 10am on Sunday, October 25. National Highways has confirmed the closure, which will affect motorists from Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham and other parts of Berkshire who rely on the M4 and M25 for airport trips and journeys into west London.

Although described as overnight roadworks, the closure will remain in place throughout much of Sunday morning, with disruption expected to be at its worst between 8am and midday. The works will have the biggest impact on drivers heading towards Heathrow Airport, particularly those travelling to Terminals 2 and 3 via the M4.

Majid Ismailzada, marketing director at GM Rides, warned that many people may underestimate the impact. 'The word overnight can make people think the work will be finished before their airport journey begins,' he said. 'A lunchtime flight can still mean travelling during the morning. Once you work backwards from check-in, security and the time needed to reach your terminal, your journey may fall much earlier than you first think.' Drivers approaching Heathrow from Berkshire would normally leave the M4 at junction 4b and join the M25 around junction 15, but those routes will be affected by the closure and diversion.
