A 29-year-old man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a woman behind a south Phoenix bus stop.
A 29-year-old man known by the street name 'O-Dog' has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman behind a south Phoenix bus stop. Oscar Ramirez Jr. is accused of fatally stabbing 41-year-old Cynthia Saenz in an attack captured on surveillance video. The woman was found unresponsive behind a city bus stop near 35th Avenue and Roeser Road on Saturday, 17 October, just after 7 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified a silver or gray 2010-13 Range Rover Sport as the getaway vehicle, which had several distinctive aftermarket features. Using automated licence-plate readers and prior police contact records, detectives linked the SUV to Ramirez, who had been stopped driving it in March and had taken it to a Land Rover dealership for service in June. Surveillance footage showed two people getting out of the vehicle before one, dressed in dark clothing, ran toward Saenz and attacked her. Both then returned to the vehicle and drove away heading west.
Ramirez was taken into custody on Wednesday. About six hours after the stabbing, Ramirez's mother called 911 to report that her son was acting erratically and was outside their home spending hours spraying down and washing his Range Rover.
