Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 27 Oct, 22:04 · Archive

Two men have been sentenced for an unprovoked stabbing attack on two victims outside a Co-op store in Littleport, Cambridgeshire.

Two men have been sentenced for an unprovoked attack on two victims outside a Co-op store in Littleport. Joshua Davidson and Kai O'Donnell attacked the men, aged 29 and 58, in the car park of the Co-op in Wisbech Lane on 18 May at around 7.50pm as they were leaving the store.

The victims were punched before Davidson pulled out a weapon and began slashing at them. When the younger man fell to the ground, both attackers continued the assault. The violence then moved to nearby Friars Lane, where it continued until a member of the public intervened and called police.

The victims were located at their home and taken to hospital, where they were treated for multiple serious but not life-threatening stab wounds. Armed officers arrested Davidson and O'Donnell in Tilling Way.

At Peterborough Crown Court on 26 October, Davidson, 21, of no fixed address, was sentenced to five years in prison. He pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place. O'Donnell, 21, of Tilling Way, Littleport, pleaded guilty to affray and was sentenced to 19 months in prison, suspended for two years, with a requirement to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Constable Charmaine Wood said the case demonstrated that 'there is no place for this kind of violence in our communities' and expressed hope that the sentences would provide reassurance to the public.
