Married At First Sight under police investigation over inappropriate material

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 22 Oct, 12:51 · Archive

Australian reality TV show Married At First Sight is under police investigation following allegations that inappropriate material was shared during filming.

Nine's Married At First Sight is under police investigation following a complaint made to NSW Police in August regarding the sharing of inappropriate material. According to local reports, private information about a male participant allegedly shared by his former partner was obtained and shared by producers to his new bride during filming of the show's upcoming season, set to air in 2027.

NSW Police confirmed the allegations related to 'inappropriate content' being shared and said they would refer the matter to Western Australian Police, though the referral had not yet been made. The nature of the inappropriate material remains unclear. Under Western Australian law, the sharing of intimate images without consent can attract a prison sentence of up to three years or a fine of up to $18,000.

Nine confirmed awareness of the investigation, stating that enquiries should be directed to production company EndemolShine Australia, which produces the show. Nine said it is not involved and has not been contacted by police. EndemolShine Australia did not respond to requests for comment.
