Actor Martin Freeman, 55, has secretly married his girlfriend Rachel Benaissa, 32, after six years together.

Martin Freeman and Rachel Benaissa have secretly tied the knot earlier this year. The Sherlock actor, 55, and his French partner, 32, kept the wedding private for months before revealing it at the premiere of Freeman's latest film, The Long Winter, on Wednesday. Both were wearing new jewellery: Freeman sporting a gold wedding band and Benaissa showing off a diamond ring.

The couple began dating in 2020, four years after Freeman separated from his longtime partner and Sherlock co-star Amanda Abbington. They have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight, though Freeman has occasionally shared glimpses of their life together. Appearing on Jessie Ware's Table Manners podcast, he spoke fondly of their shared love of cooking and food, describing Benaissa as 'a massive cheese and wine' enthusiast.

Benaissa is also a writer, actress and producer. She starred in the BBC adaptation of Normal People and is currently working on a short film called A Tiny Thing. Freeman's representative confirmed the marriage to The Sun, though further details of their wedding remain unknown.
