Amazon's Masterplan, a heist film about criminals attempting to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre, stars Stanley Tucci in a role The Guardian says wastes his talent.

Masterplan is an art heist film released on Amazon Prime Video in which a group of criminals attempt to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. The film stars Stanley Tucci as British criminal mastermind Roger, alongside Victor Belmondo and Simona Tabasco as a pair of young European criminals working together on jobs using a dark web app.

The Guardian's review is strongly negative, describing the film as 'pulpy and forgettable' and saying Tucci is 'wasted' in the role. The publication notes that Tucci has recently given 'smartly judged supporting turns' in other films and deserved a better vehicle for a leading role. The film is being released straight to streaming rather than in cinemas, with Amazon apparently choosing to focus promotional efforts on its other newly released romantic drama, Love of Your Life.
