Brewers' dominant bullpen carries them to World Series

Milwaukee's relief pitchers have posted a 1.33 ERA in the postseason, helping the Brewers reach their first World Series since 1982.

The Milwaukee Brewers' relief pitchers have established themselves as a dominant force in the postseason, allowing just six runs over 40⅔ innings during the team's path to the World Series. This performance—a 1.33 ERA—ranks as the fourth-best by any pennant winner entering the World Series since 1995, according to Sportradar.

Manager Pat Murphy has centred the bullpen around left-handers Aaron Ashby, DL Hall and JoJo Romero, alongside right-handers Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill. Over 35 innings combined, these five have struck out 35 batters whilst allowing only 15 hits and three earned runs.

The relief pitchers' success stems from the trust and cohesion within the group. Ashby noted that knowing other capable relievers are available to cover runners in scoring position gives pitchers confidence to pitch freely. "That's a special feeling, when you've got guys like that in the bullpen," Ashby said after the NLDS.

The Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres 3-1 in the divisional series and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 in the championship series. They open the World Series on Friday against either the Tampa Bay Rays or Cleveland Guardians.
