A woman found in Mexico was not Shayna Feinman, who disappeared in Arizona two years ago, US authorities confirmed.

Shayna Feinman disappeared on 9 March 2024 at the age of 38 while walking to a friend's house near Peach Springs and Hyde Park in Seligman, Arizona, about 200 miles north of Phoenix. Police found her cell phone and other belongings at a nearby house. Her boyfriend, Cavett Richards, was charged with murder and concealment of a body, but the charges were eventually dismissed.

On 23 October, Mexican authorities reported finding Feinman alive in the Encino neighbourhood of Tijuana. The Tijuana Municipal Security and Protection Service said her characteristics matched the missing woman and that officers had provided her with custody, protection and moved her to a safe location. Her sister, Kara Feinman, told Arizona Family she did not recognise the woman and had no concrete evidence it was her sister.

On Tuesday, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office confirmed that US authorities had used physical evidence to establish the woman found in Mexico was not Feinman. The sheriff's office said detectives continued to work with the family and reminded the public of a $20,000 reward for information about Feinman's whereabouts. Kara Feinman said previous reported sightings had been difficult for the family, particularly when authorities provided little evidence.
