Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy has returned to practice nearly six months after being shot in the leg outside a concert in Mississippi in May.

All-American running back Ahmad Hardy has returned to practice with Missouri nearly six months after being shot in the leg outside a concert in his home state of Mississippi in May. Coach Eli Drinkwitz confirmed Tuesday that Hardy had been a full participant in the previous day's practice.

Drinkwitz said the team's medical staff would determine when Hardy returns to game action. He declined to give a timeline, saying the situation was unprecedented. "There's never been anybody that we've experienced have to go through this," Drinkwitz said. "For me to put an artificial timeline on that creates an expectation, and then disappointment."

Hardy, who led the nation with 1,649 rushing yards last season and set a Missouri single-season record with 16 touchdowns, was attending the concert in Laurel, Mississippi, when he was shot as a bystander. Police charged Rashodrick Harris with two felony counts of aggravated assault in the shooting. Missouri plays Arkansas on Saturday, though Hardy's availability for that game remains unclear.
