Jason Kamal and Ashley Hillsley were caught after breaking into an Ann Summers store in Nottingham in August and stealing £12,000 of stock.

Two burglars have been sentenced for breaking into an Ann Summers store in Nottingham city centre in August. Jason Kamal, 48, and Ashley Hillsley, 21, forced their way into the Long Row branch in the early hours of August 14, smashing a window to gain entry and ripping an alarm panel from the wall. They loaded £12,059 of goods including negligees and sex toys into a vehicle before police arrived.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police received a report of a burglary in progress at 4.32am and arrived within three minutes, forcing the two men to flee. Body-camera footage showed officers discovering a large stash of Ann Summers stock in the boot of Hillsley's car. Both men were arrested at the scene.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, Kamal was handed a three-year prison sentence. He was also linked to a separate burglary at Professional Mobile in Arnold, Nottingham, on July 28, where electronic devices worth £13,000 were stolen. Hillsley, of Big Barn Lane in Mansfield, received a community order for the Ann Summers burglary.

Chief Inspector Kylie Davies of Nottinghamshire Police said the offenders were 'not mastermind criminals', noting that all evidence pointed to them and they had no option but to plead guilty.
