A new book by Paul S Wilson tells the story of York City's promotion from the National League after a dramatic last-gasp win.
A new book is capturing the highs and heartbreaks of York City's most memorable football season. York City – The Added Time Assassins, written by long-time supporter Paul S Wilson, chronicles the club's dramatic campaign, described as the most remarkable in its 104-year history. The 156-page book features photographs, match reports and statistics, and is priced at £15.
The story follows the Minstermen's final day at Spotland, where they needed at least a point against second-placed Rochdale to win the National League title. When Mani Dieseruvwe gave Rochdale a stoppage-time lead, promotion seemed lost. But with seconds remaining, Josh Stones' 103rd minute effort was judged to have crossed the line, earning York an incredible last-gasp win and ending a decade-long stay in non-league football.
Copies are available for purchase from Paul S Wilson outside Vallados Lounge on match days between 1.30pm and 2.45pm, with cash payments only. The book can also be bought at Castlegate Books in Knaresborough, Haxby Sports Bar, and Pybus Newsagents in Boroughbridge, as well as online at www.croftpublications.co.uk. For more information or to order in advance, readers can contact Mr Wilson on 01423 325295.
