Glasgow launches three Night Bus Hubs with marshals and CCTV

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 21 Oct, 13:32 · Archive

Glasgow City Council is opening three Night Bus Hubs with marshals and CCTV monitoring to help late-night travellers.

Glasgow City Council has opened three Night Bus Hubs in the city centre to improve late-night transport options. Located at Sauchiehall Street at The Garage, Hope Street at Watt Brothers, and at the southern end of Union Street, the hubs began operating from Friday. They will serve 10 night bus services running on Friday and Saturday nights between midnight and 4am.

Each hub will be staffed by marshals and equipped with CCTV monitoring. The one-year marshalling pilot is funded by Let's Go Glasgow, the city centre's Business Improvement District, and Glasgow City Council. Bus services will continue to serve all other stops on their routes.

Cllr Angus Millar, Convener for City Centre Recovery and Transport, said the initiative will help people enjoying nights out or working late to 'confidently plan their journey and get home more easily'. Sean Murray, Chief Executive of Let's Go Glasgow BID, said a safe and welcoming city centre after dark is 'fundamental to a thriving night-time economy'. The initiative aims to ease pressure on taxis and private hires for late-night transport whilst supporting Glasgow's night-time economy.
