Carlisle's first indoor cricket centre opens to public

Summarised from Cumberland News's report · Updated 5 Nov, 22:21 · Archive

Northern Edge Indoor Cricket Centre, Cumbria's first dedicated indoor cricket facility, is holding an open weekend in Carlisle.

Northern Edge Indoor Cricket Centre opened last week in the former Vasey's building on Lancaster Street in Carlisle. The facility, founded by Paul Hindmarch, current Keswick Cricket Club captain and ECN Level 4 coach, is holding an open weekend this Saturday and Sunday for the community to visit.

The centre features five indoor cricket lanes with ECB-approved DuraWeave cricket surfacing, BOLA Pro bowling machines, a BOLA TrueMan 3 fixed bowling machine and Full Track AI video analysis technology for performance feedback. Visitors will be able to look around, try the batting and bowling lanes, take part in competitions and meet members of the team.

Hindmarch said the centre was established to provide 'specialist, year-round cricket facilities for players across Cumbria, south west Scotland and the wider north of England'. The wider development at the site is set to include padel courts, a sports café, golf simulators and a gym.
