Police seek two suspects in Buckeye driveway arson

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 15 Oct, 23:32 · Archive

Police are appealing for help identifying two people captured on camera before two vehicles were set alight at a Buckeye home on August 19.

Police are seeking two persons of interest who were captured on surveillance camera moments before two vehicles were set alight in the driveway of a home on Gregory Road in Buckeye, Arizona on August 19.

Doorbell camera footage from around 10:15 p.m. shows a person in a white hoodie and shorts walking toward the victim's home. Police say the person appeared to throw something. About a minute later, another person in a black hoodie and gray pants walked up to the driveway. The person in the white hoodie then ran down the street whilst the other person walked backward out of view.

The homeowner, Athena Medina, said her family was asleep when they woke to neighbours pounding on the door to alert them their front yard was on fire. She told police the family said it sounded like 'bombs going off' and they scrambled to escape safely. Medina said: 'All I think about is that we could have died. My boys could have gotten hurt.' No one was injured, but the fire charred metal, melted tyres and heavily damaged the garage door and two vehicles.
