Norfolk mobile catering business Pura Vida Pans to close

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 22 Oct, 11:33 · Archive

Duncan Abel is closing his Norfolk mobile catering business Pura Vida Pans after four years to focus on Norfolk Crumble.

Duncan Abel, 53, has announced the closure of Pura Vida Pans, a mobile catering business known for large pan paellas that operated across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, south Lincolnshire and north Essex over the past four years. The company specialised in paella but also offered a variety of catering options for events and celebrations.

Abel is closing the business to focus on helping his fiancée Shelley Crosby with Norfolk Crumble. 'The crumble business is the way forward so now I am focusing on helping Shelley with Norfolk Crumble,' he said. Norfolk Crumble opened its first permanent shop in Hamilton Road in Cromer last October.

Abel said the mobile catering business had given him 'some particularly fantastic experiences at Folk East Festival as well as some wonderful private bookings'. He reflected that what started as an idea 'became something far bigger than I ever expected' and said he was 'incredibly proud' of what the business created. He paid special tribute to Crosby, saying 'quite simply, Pura Vida Pans would never have happened without her' as she had given him the confidence to pursue the venture.
