Year 6 students from St John Fisher Catholic Primary School won Oxfordshire's Primary Junior Chef of the Year competition with a menu using ingredients from their school allotment.

Year 6 students from St John Fisher Catholic Primary School in Oxford have won the Primary Junior Chef of the Year Oxfordshire 2026 competition, beating more than 100 other schools. The winning team of Davide, Roxanne and Angelina impressed judges with their Plot to Plate menu at the final, held at Wychwood School.

Their menu featured a spring onion soufflé, fresh pasta with allotment vegetables and a chocolate courgette brownie, made from ingredients grown on the school's allotment. The allotment is funded by Good Food Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire County Council. Eggs were collected from chickens that pupils care for daily at the school. Additional ingredients were donated by The Oxford Food Hub, a Botley-based charity.

Davide said the team was initially worried about the soufflé rising but that it turned out 'incredible'. He added: 'I am Italian, so I knew that the pasta would be fantastic.' The team was led by teaching assistant Michelle Turton, who helped them plan and practise their dishes. Paul Higgins, headteacher at St John Fisher, said he was proud of the three pupils' achievement.
