Henley in Oxfordshire has been named the best town in the UK at the national Britain in Bloom awards.

Henley has been named the best town in the UK at the national Britain in Bloom awards, winning a Gold prize and a Judges' Highlight Award for Henley Adventure Golf, an 18-hole mini golf course in Mill Meadows.

The South Oxfordshire town previously took the top prize in the regional awards. Town clerk Sheridan Jacklin-Edward described it as an 'exceptional year' for the community and Henley's best ever result in Bloom. She said the achievement reflected the work of Henley Town Council's staff, the parks team and community organisations, with special mention for Kyle, Karl and the parks team who worked 'incredibly long hours for many weeks' to prepare for judging.

The town council described the award as a 'tremendous source of pride for the whole community' and extended thanks to sponsors including Active Security and Wilkins, ADVHQ, Blanchards Law, Catlin Ltd, Fidelity Group, Henley Royal Regatta and Tank2.
