A 73-year-old man has been given a 27-month suspended sentence after admitting to masturbating in public view from his flat window.
Robert May, 73, of The Village in Chaddesley Corbett near Kidderminster, was sentenced at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on 19 October to 27 months in prison, suspended, after pleading guilty to an act of outraging public decency.
May had masturbated repeatedly in public view from his flat window during June and early July 2025. His neighbour Margaret Day, 79, reported witnessing the behaviour on more than thirty occasions. Day's daughter Susan Mason-Day recorded the incidents on camera and passed the evidence to police.
When first questioned, May claimed he had been applying deep heat treatment for aching joints and that his curtain had fallen down. However, he subsequently pleaded guilty. District judge Ian Strongman told the court that despite his plea, May maintained there had been no wrongdoing on his part. The judge described how Day had seen May 'plainly in view and absolutely naked' through his flat window on many occasions, and that her daughter had managed to record the behaviour to enable a proper complaint to be made to police.
