Cumbria Police step up patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour

Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 9 Oct, 13:08 · Archive

Cumbria Police are increasing high-visibility patrols across the region to combat anti-social behaviour under Operation Enhance.

Cumbria Police are urging residents to report anti-social behaviour as targeted patrols continue across the region under Operation Enhance. The high-visibility policing initiative, now in its third year, uses officer overtime to deliver extra patrols in areas known for anti-social behaviour.

The scheme is jointly funded by Cumbria Constabulary and the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner, following two successful years. During the first two years, police achieved a 42 per cent reduction in anti-social behaviour across 15 targeted hotspots.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: 'Officers are out in hotspot areas, working to deter anti-social behaviour and violence. If you see anti-social behaviour, please report it via 101 or using the link below. Together, we can tackle anti-social behaviour and keep our communities safe.'

Operation Enhance began its third year in June and will continue into 2027. The operation includes period reviews to allow for any necessary adjustments to the scheme as it progresses.

Between 15 June and 27 July this year, officers made five arrests, conducted 14 stop searches and seized one weapon in targeted areas.
