Police recommend 100 new charges in changing room video case

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 13 Oct, 04:02 · Archive

A former school district surveillance officer faces 98 counts of voyeurism and two of bestiality.

Tempe police have recommended 100 new charges against Antony Cruz, 28, a former school district surveillance officer accused of downloading videos of girls changing at Corona del Sol High School. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office confirmed the recommendation on Monday and is currently reviewing 98 counts of voyeurism and two counts of bestiality. No timeline has been given for a decision.

Investigators said Cruz downloaded videos of girls aged 13 to 15 who were changing in the dance room at the school. The dance room had been converted into a temporary locker room during the summer while the school's main locker room underwent renovation. A camera was installed in the dance room in 2024. Cruz was arrested in August and booked into jail on seven counts of voyeurism. He pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. He had no prior criminal history.

Tempe Union District said the dance room was not approved to be a changing area and has launched an internal investigation into how the decision was made. The district stated it does not have cameras in locker rooms, bathrooms or designated changing areas.
