Summarised from 3 outlets · Updated 26 Oct, 09:57 · Archive

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Essex closed on October 26 after a power cut caused ongoing electrical issues.

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary and Visitor Centre in Essex closed to visitors on Monday 26 October after electrical problems caused by a power cut the previous day forced it to shut its doors.

An electrician attended the site overnight to carry out repairs. The sanctuary said it was hopeful the necessary work would be completed on Monday, allowing it to reopen on Tuesday.

The closure disrupted planned Halloween visits to the sanctuary. Hopefield confirmed it had contacted everyone who had pre-booked tickets for the day.

In a statement, the sanctuary said: 'We've sadly had to make the difficult decision to close the sanctuary to visitors today due to ongoing electrical issues following yesterday's power cut. We've had an electrician at the sanctuary overnight, and we're hopeful the necessary work will be completed today so we can reopen tomorrow. We have contacted everyone who pre-booked for today. We know you'll have been looking forward to your Halloween visit, and we're so sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience, especially at such short notice.'
