Roots Farm Shop at The Old Potato Yard near Devizes has ceased trading after just under 18 months of operation. The current operators took over the business in May 2025 with 'a clear sense of ambition and direction', according to the farm shop's website. However, they announced on 9 October that they would cease trading from 5pm on 10 October, with the site vacated by 12 October.

According to the farm shop's website, the operators said they 'very quickly learned that running a small food business is far more dynamic (and complex!) than any plan can fully prepare you for.' The Plank family, who operate The Old Potato Yard site, thanked supporters of the businesses there in a Facebook post and said they looked forward to 'sharing future plans in due course'.

The family added that whilst the farm shop had departed, other businesses operating from The Old Potato Yard remained open and trading, and urged shoppers to continue to support them.
