Jon Rahm won the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship by two shots from Tyrrell Hatton, with Rory McIlroy a further two strokes back.
Jon Rahm fired a final-round 67 at Yas Links to clinch the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship by two shots, finishing at 23 under. The Spaniard mixed six birdies with a single bogey in the final round, holding off England's Tyrrell Hatton who finished second at 21 under, with Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy third at 19 under.
Rahm held a one-shot lead entering Sunday and briefly lost his advantage as Hatton, McIlroy and Francesco Laporta all led at various points during the final round. McIlroy made a dream start with a birdie at the first after driving the green at the par-four hole, then holing a putt from nearly 50 feet for an eagle at the second. However, he dropped shots at the third and 15th to end four strokes back in third place, his 11th top-three finish in 15 starts in Abu Dhabi.
Rahm said after his win: "It means a lot. It's been quite a while to play well in the DP World Tour. Except a shot on 17, I played a pretty flawless back nine. After everything that has gone on, some poor play and some battles mentally with a lot of noise, to come back out after a bit of a break and a new addition to the family, it's pretty special."
The victory marked Rahm's first on the DP World Tour in four years and his first since announcing his departure from LIV Golf. It was Rahm's sixth Rolex Series event win. McIlroy moved to second in the season-long Race to Dubai standings, behind Eugenio Chacarra.
Laporta finished fourth at 17 under. The tournament formed part of the DP World Tour's season-ending playoffs, with the top 50 players advancing to the $10m finals event in Dubai the following week.
