NETheatre York will present Shrek The Musical at Joseph Rowntree Theatre from 20 to 28 November. The volunteer-run company plans to transform the venue into a woodland setting to fully immerse audiences in the world of Shrek. The production will feature 11 performances with West End costumes and sets.
Director Steve Tearle said: 'We are turning the JRTheatre into a forest for a total inclusive experience. You will be transported into the world of Shrek. This awesome musical gives everyone the chance to shine creating some fabulous moments.' He added that the company 'builds confidence and inspires our cast to be the best they can be with no judgments'.
NETheatre York, which recently won a YorkMix award for its production of Les Misérables, prides itself on being inclusive and diverse. The group has also staged Les Misérables School Edition and Priscilla Queen of the Desert this year. The company will once again be supporting a number of charities through the production.
