A motorsport rally has raised more than £2,500 for Shropshire Rural Support, a charity helping farmers and rural communities.
The Hills Ford Stages Rally partnership raised more than £2,500 for Shropshire Rural Support (SRS), which manages support for farmers, their families and rural communities across Shropshire. The funds were generated through managing the spectator area at Linley during the event held on 19 and 20 September.
Kate Jones, fundraising manager for SRS, said the event welcomed hundreds of visitors and praised volunteers for their 'cheerful, friendly, and welcoming manner'. The fundraising effort also raised awareness of the charity's work. Founded in 1991, SRS offers support through a team with farming backgrounds and a broad network of contacts for guidance and signposting.
The rally partnership was celebrated with a display featuring a Ford Escort rally car and a tractor from Morris Corfield. The Ford Escort, owned by Ben Crump from Clee Hill and maintained by Coltech in Church Stretton, achieved a 12th-place finish. Coltech looked after seven rally cars during the event, all driven by competitors from the region. James and Diana Moores of Linley Hall Estate and their staff supported spectator car parking at Linley.
