Six people have been arrested during a major police operation targeting organised immigration crime across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Six people have been arrested during a major immigration crime operation across Yorkshire and the Humber. The two-week enforcement period ran from 21 September to 5 October under Operation Lockstream, a national initiative targeting organised crime groups involved in illegal entry into the UK.

The operation involved 645 vehicle searches and resulted in 412 people being spoken to. Police seized 10 cars and 16 e-bikes. Seventeen multi-agency operations were carried out by West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and Humberside police, alongside Border Force officials. The operation focused on deterring immigration crime across road, rail, and port networks in the region.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Horsfield of the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit said the operation would help inform how people using small boats subsequently use the UK's road and rail networks. He added that police would focus on possible clandestine methods of entry through ports. Horsfield stated that by disrupting organised criminal use of transport networks, police and partners were protecting vulnerable people and making it harder for organised crime groups to operate.
