Six men have been sentenced following a violent incident in Oxford that left two men injured. The men were convicted following a Thames Valley Police investigation into an affray and dangerous driving.
The violence began around 3am on September 13 outside Hank's Bar on Queen Street, where two men and a group of six others were involved in an affray. A man in his twenties suffered a facial injury. Later that day, both groups agreed to meet at South Park around 9pm to arrange an apology. More people turned up, some armed with weapons. After the meeting, the man injured earlier left the park at around 10.30pm with a small group and walked towards St Clement's Street, where they encountered others from the earlier fight, who got into a car.
Romario Qatja, 31, of Pipkin Way, Oxford, was jailed for two-and-a-half years for hitting a man with his car and taking part in the fight. Arger Poleshi was jailed for one year and three months for two counts of affray. Detective Inspector James Mather said one of the injured men 'is still suffering today' and that Thames Valley Police would be 'relentless in our pursuit of those involved in serious violence'.
