Activity provider Sporty Bees has been named New Business of the Year at the Test Valley Business Awards.
Sporty Bees has been named New Business of the Year at the Test Valley Business Awards, held at Thruxton Circuit on Saturday, 17 October. The activity provider started in June 2025 with just four children in a single after-school class and has expanded to deliver more than 30 classes each week.
The business was launched after founder Brian McDonough noticed a lack of activity options at his younger children's village school. Two of the four original participants were his own children. Sporty Bees now offers a wide range of activities including athletics, football, fencing, martial arts, dance, rugby and basketball.
McDonough said: 'A year ago, our school was closing down and we had no sport, so we stepped in with Sporty Bees.' He emphasised that the business aims to be inclusive. 'Some parents say their children have never been included in any sport except for Sporty Bees,' he added. The award was sponsored by Bulpitt Print.
