Natural Resources Wales has issued multiple flood alerts across North Wales as Storm Boelo brings high winds and heavy rain.

Multiple flood alerts have been issued across North Wales as Storm Boelo brings high winds and heavy rain to the region. Natural Resources Wales confirmed the alerts on Saturday, 24 October 2026, covering coastal and river areas across the north.

Coastal flood alerts are in place from the Dee Estuary to Abergele and on the western coast of Anglesey from Cemlyn Bay to the Menai Straits. A spokesperson for Natural Resources Wales warned of 'a risk of flooding as a result of the combination of the high tides and weather conditions' and advised people to 'be careful on beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, roads, low lying land, close to the estuary'.

River flood alerts cover the Clwyd catchment from Clocaenog to Rhuddlan and the Elwy and Gele catchment from Gwytherin to St Asaph and including Abergele. Natural Resources Wales stated that 'flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected' in these areas, with 'rainfall currently affecting' them and 'river levels above normal levels'.

A 33-hour yellow alert for wind is in force across the entire North Wales region until 9pm on Sunday, whilst an all-Wales yellow alert for rain remains in effect until 11pm on Saturday. Storm Boelo follows Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season.

Disruption to transport has already begun, with ferry services between Holyhead and Dublin cancelled due to the weather conditions. Natural Resources Wales has said it will continue to monitor the situation closely.
