A survey of 143 customers at charter markets in Witney and Chipping Norton found satisfaction levels of 95 per cent or higher.

A survey of 143 customers at charter markets in Witney and Chipping Norton has revealed high levels of satisfaction with the venues. The positive feedback follows a review by West Oxfordshire District Council, which praised improvements made since Cotswold Markets Ltd took over market operations in August 2025.

Results showed that 98 per cent of respondents were satisfied with customer service, 96 per cent with product quality and 95 per cent with the overall market atmosphere. Many also noted improvements including more stalls, greater variety and a more attractive market environment.

Duncan Enright, deputy leader and executive member for economic development at West Oxfordshire District Council, said: 'As a council, we recognised there was an opportunity to make our markets better, so took action to bring in new management arrangements, and it's fantastic to see those changes delivering results for shoppers and traders.' He added that the markets were part of what made the towns great places to live and visit, and that the support helped keep town centres lively and distinctive.

Market operators have also welcomed the public response.
