Leeds United defender Tarik Muharemovic explained a pre-goal conversation with Dominic Calvert-Lewin before his assist in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Tarik Muharemovic has outlined that his pre-goal conversation with Dominic Calvert-Lewin just moments before his assist in Leeds United's 1-1 draw with Manchester United was not about the corner routine. Calvert-Lewin asked him to look up and play a chip ball when he had possession, but Muharemovic saw Anton Stach was already taking the corner so he had to go with that instead.
Muharemovic's assist came six minutes after half-time when he set up Calvert-Lewin. The centre-back was initially self-critical of his defending for Manchester United's opening goal, when Youri Tielemans crossed for Bryan Mbuemo's sliding finish on 35 minutes. However, his assist made up for that.
The summer signing's assist for Calvert-Lewin was his second of the season, his first being a forward pass when Calvert-Lewin scored his second goal during Leeds' 4-1 win over Newcastle United. Muharemovic has also scored for Leeds, heading home the opener against Chelsea in September's 6-3 League Cup defeat. He has made 38 headed clearances in the Premier League so far, the fourth-highest across the division.
