American Vaughn Taylor won his first PGA Tour Champions title in a playoff at Hammock Beach in Florida, with three Australian golfers narrowly missing out.

American Vaughn Taylor won his first PGA Tour Champions title in a playoff at the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach in Florida on Sunday, defeating Germany's Alex Cejka. After both players parred the par-4 18th on the first playoff hole, they replayed it. Taylor stuck his approach shot about six feet from the cup and rolled in the birdie putt to clinch victory.

Taylor tied Cejka at 17-under 199 after shooting a 4-under-par 68 in the final round, with five straight birdies from the 10th to the 14th. Cejka had shot his second straight 65 and took the clubhouse lead at 17 under. In his first season on the PGA Tour Champions after turning 50 in March, Taylor had three top-10 finishes across August and September before his breakthrough. "I just wanted to finish strong and not give it away or do something stupid and lousy," he said.

Three Australian golfers finished just behind. Michael Wright took the outright lead at 18 under after birdies on the 15th and 16th but took a drop after two poor shots at the last, finishing one shot out of the playoff in third place. Tasmanian Mathew Goggin, who started the final round with a one-shot lead, and fellow Australian Rod Pampling shared fourth place with three other players.
