A 20-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol after crashing on the A590.
Tyler Dodd-Plant, 20, crashed his car at the Brettargh Holt roundabout on the A590 on the evening of May 2, South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard. Emergency services found him receiving treatment in an ambulance when they arrived.
Prosecutor Peter Kelly said Dodd-Plant was breathalysed inside the ambulance and recorded 80 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, well above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. A blood sample taken three hours after the collision showed 116 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, above the legal limit of 80 milligrams. Dodd-Plant admitted to police he had consumed four or five drinks at the time.
Dodd-Plant, of Clifford Street, Colne, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to driving with alcohol above the legal limit. His solicitor Trystan Roberts told the court: "He has made a mistake. He had something to drink and judged the situation foolishly. He consequently crashed his car which has had to be written off." The court heard Dodd-Plant had no previous convictions and took responsibility for staying at the scene.
