Apple's M5 MacBook Air and Pro models are currently discounted by $200 across multiple retailers.

Apple's M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models are currently on sale at multiple retailers with a $200 discount. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M5 processor, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is available for $1,099.99 at Amazon, Best Buy and B&H Photo, marking the second time this discount has appeared since July. The 15-inch MacBook Air is also discounted to $1,299.99 in the same configuration. This marks a significant drop from the higher prices Apple set over the summer.

Wired reports that while Apple has announced an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, the older M5 model represents better value. The M6 adds two additional CPU and GPU cores and a second 16-core Neural Engine for improved AI performance, but the publication questions whether the upgrade justifies the $200 premium. The main practical difference in everyday use and content creation workflows would be minimal, Wired suggests.

According to The Verge, the M5 MacBook Air offers stronger value than Apple's newer MacBook Neo model, featuring double the RAM, a faster CPU with more cores, twice the storage, better speakers, a backlit keyboard and a larger screen. Both retailers are honouring the discount across multiple colour options.
