The Block finale sees all five homes sell despite market headwinds

All five homes on Australia's The Block sold at auction, with Queensland pair Courtney and Sev winning $1.87 million including prize money.

The Block's 2026 season finale saw all five teams' luxury homes sell at auction on Sunday night in Melbourne's Mount Eliza, a result that defied a notoriously difficult property market. The 100 per cent clearance rate represented an extraordinary outcome for the show, which in previous seasons had delivered mixed results, with homes sometimes remaining on the market for months after broadcast.

Queensland best friends Courtney and Sev made Block history by winning the season with $1.87 million, including prize money. 'It doesn't feel real. It's just the craziest thing,' Courtney said. 'We're so grateful, and we could have never imagined that we'd be walking away with this kind of money and the prize pool.' Adelaide couple Adam and Jolene, who went to auction first, sold their home for $3.905 million for a $455,000 profit.

The auctions had faced significant headwinds. Reserve prices of $3.45 million had already been publicly revealed under new Victorian laws preventing real estate agents from underquoting prices before auction. Over the three months while teams were building, house prices fell substantially, recording their steepest quarterly decline on record, and interest rates reached a 15-year high. Before bidding began, one final decision proved crucial: the auction order. Less than an hour before the sales, Chantel and Wyatt's real estate agent suggested that Courtney and Sev swap positions, moving into second place instead of fourth. Co-host Shelley Craft described the idea as 'excellent', and both teams agreed to the change.
