The Alarm founder Mike Peters' annual music festival returns to Rhyl in January 2027 with Cast and Inspiral Carpets headlining.
The Gathering, an annual celebration of The Alarm founded by frontman Mike Peters in 1992, is returning to Rhyl for the first time in 35 years. The festival will take place from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 January 2027, with a launch concert on Thursday 14 January featuring Britpop giants Cast and Manchester band Inspiral Carpets at the newly named Arena Mike Peters.
The Queen's Market event space has been officially renamed Arena Mike Peters in honour of the late singer, who grew up near Rhyl Beach and married his wife Jules Jones Peters at the Queen's Hotel in 1988. The first Gathering took place at Rhyl Town Hall on 11 and 12 December 1992, when Peters invited fans to travel to his hometown after months of touring.
The full festival line-up includes Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff, Chris Helme of The Seahorses and Nigel Clark of Dodgy performing on Friday 15 January. Big Country and Ian McNabb of Icicle Works will close the weekend on Saturday 16 January. Jules Peters said the festival 'became the cornerstone of our lives, the anchor to all our ups and downs, our joys and our sadness'.
