Thousands of shoppers flocked to Morley Galleria as the owner Vicinity Centres opened its new fashion mall following a $240 million revamp.

Thousands of shoppers flocked to Morley Galleria in Perth on Thursday as owner Vicinity Centres opened its new fashion mall following a $240 million revamp. Plans to redevelop the shopping precinct were first announced in 2013, but years of delays led to an exodus of retailers and eateries from the once-thriving centre.

Vicinity boss Peter Huddle said the centre was performing well. 'We always knew this was a fantastic trade area and we always knew there was retail demand here,' he told The West Australian. 'We do expect this centre to perform extremely well. We're introducing a lot of new offers into the centre, particularly around entertainment, dining and we're bringing a lot of traditional retailers back.'

The new precinct features at least 20 new stores spanning fashion, technology, lifestyle, beauty and sport. Retailers now open include Country Road, Seed, Perfect Stranger, JB Hi-Fi, JD Sports, City Beach, Mecca and W Cosmetics. Planned arrivals in following weeks include Victoria's Secret, Aje, Nude Lucy and bookstore Harry Hartog. The new Myer leads the fashion mall with a revitalised beauty hall, refreshed layout and more than 120 new brands, including 50 dedicated to beauty and skincare.
