Three men jailed for running cocaine supply network into Aberystwyth

Three men have been jailed for a combined period of over six years after police found £16,000 in cash and 80 bags of cocaine in a stashed car near Aberystwyth.

Three men from an organised crime group have been jailed for a combined period of more than six years following the discovery of a stash car containing £16,000 in cash and 80 bags of cocaine in Mid Wales. Dyfed-Powys Police's Serious and Organised Crime Unit set up Operation Haxted to investigate a sophisticated drugs network supplying cocaine from Birmingham into the Aberystwyth area.

Shaqir Tota coordinated the distribution of drugs through a dedicated phone line. His two runners, Florin Ghiorghe and Mirjol Bresa, would meet local customers to supply them with gram or half-gram street deals of cocaine. The runners would receive texts from the drugs line directing them to locations in Aberystwyth, whilst customers received Google Maps pin-dropped locations from the same number where they would meet for drug deals to take place.

The deals took place in the front passenger seats of the runners' hired cars – an attempt to cover their tracks. Ghiorghe dealt from a blue Ford Puma whilst Bresa used a red Kia Picanto. On 20 August, Bresa's hired Kia Picanto travelled from Merthyr Tydfil to the Aberystwyth area, where it was parked in a rural, unattended car park near Devil's Bridge.
