Torquay shops closed over counterfeit goods until January 2027

Summarised from 2 outlets · Updated 5 Nov, 11:12 · Archive

Police have extended closure orders at three Torquay shops and two homes into January 2027.

Three Torquay shops and two residential addresses have had their closure orders extended for a further three months, taking the restrictions into January 2027. The three shops subject to full closure are Cheeto Mini Market on Tor Hill Road, Milano Market on Union Street, and International Mini Market, also on Union Street. The two residential addresses have partial closure orders designed to protect legitimate residents while tackling associated anti-social behaviour.

The original orders were obtained in July following concerns raised by the community and investigations into the supply and storage of counterfeit goods at the premises. The orders were obtained through partnership work between Devon and Cornwall Police, Trading Standards South West and Torbay Council, under Operation Marshal.

Torquay Sector Inspector Rob Harvey said: 'Torquay Neighbourhood Team are grateful for the support we received from the public and our Anti-Social Behaviour Legal Advisor in obtaining and extending these orders. We will continue to use legislation to obtain closure orders to support the town centre businesses and visitors as well as protecting our residential communities from anti-social behaviour.' Officers from the Torquay neighbourhood policing team will meet residents at St Matthias' Church in Babbacombe Road on Wednesday, December 2, between midday and 2pm to discuss community concerns.
