Liverpool eye Scott or Plan B for midfield; Arsenal miss Guler

Liverpool are leading Chelsea in the race to sign England international Alex Scott, according to reports. Scott would reunite with his former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola at Anfield under this arrangement.

However, Liverpool are preparing contingency plans should the deal fall through. The club has identified Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara and Roma's Manu Kone as alternatives. Camara saw a proposed move to Chelsea collapse on deadline day during the summer transfer window. Liverpool are said to be compiling dossiers on both players as potential backup options.

Elsewhere, Arsenal appear unlikely to pursue Real Madrid's Arda Guler. The Mirror reports that Guler is on the verge of signing a two-year contract extension with Real Madrid, which would keep him at the club until 2029. Guler has contributed one goal and five assists in nine appearances this season, including two assists in Wednesday's Champions League win over Roma.
