James Abiwon, 29, died after a tree fell onto his moving car during Storm Boelo in Finchley, north London, on Sunday, 25 October. Emergency services were called to Dollis Road near the junction with Abercon Road following reports of a tree falling on a moving vehicle. Paramedics attended and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Abiwon grew up in north-west London and was weeks away from celebrating his 30th birthday. He graduated from the University of Essex and worked in advertising and sales. He was also a talented rapper who enjoyed making music.

His cousin Austin Okolo, an entrepreneur and TV commentator, paid tribute to him. Okolo said: 'I lost one of my closest cousins in a tragic accident, completely out of his hands. Just in the wrong place in the wrong time. Every time I saw him, I had joy in my face. I loved that guy to bits.'

Abiwon had been planning to mark his 30th birthday with a padel fundraising event, having wanted to 'do something productive' for the milestone. Despite his death, his loved ones hope the event will still go ahead in his memory, with proceeds going to his family.
