A Florida man faces attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend and running her over with his SUV.

Christopher 'Dodge' Smith, 40, allegedly shot his girlfriend Jessica Antolini, 30, in the face during an argument outside a bar in Safe Harbor, Florida on Tuesday evening at just before 9 p.m. After shooting her, he ran her over with his SUV and fled the scene with a 5-year-old child in the vehicle, leaving Antolini at the scene.

Witnesses reported that Smith appeared to be 'hunting' the victim down and looked 'possessed'. Multiple 911 calls from witnesses provided information about Smith's vehicle to authorities. Antolini remains in hospital in critical condition. The child in the vehicle was uninjured and was reunited with family.

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office located Smith's SUV and attempted to pull him over. He did not comply with the stop, and his vehicle was immobilised during the pursuit. Bodycam, dashcam and aerial footage released by the sheriff's office show deputies successfully executing a PIT maneuver on his SUV. Smith was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder and child abuse.
