Middlesbrough's Centre Square will host a free Diwali festival on Saturday 31 October from 1pm to 7pm. The event promises music, dance, food and family fun to mark the Festival of Light. Event organiser Kash Patel said the festival is 'about coming together with family and friends' and is 'open to all regardless of faith'.
Performers include singer Raghav and Molly J from The Voice UK, with entertainment hosted throughout the day by DJ Shakk from BBC Radio Tees. Street vendors from across the UK will sell sweet and savoury food, ethnic fashion and other goods.
Children can participate in free arts and crafts including lantern making, funfair rides, drumming workshops, rangoli design sessions and dance workshops. The evening will end with a Bollywood-themed fireworks display.
