Nightingale Farm in South Marston has been ranked the UK's spookiest place to visit this Halloween.

Nightingale Farm in South Marston has been named the UK's spookiest place to visit this Halloween by Locals Insider, a website that ranked 18 paranormal hotspots across the country. The farm scored 43 out of 54 points in the study.

Locals Insider used specialist archives including The Paranormal Database, alongside historical records and folklore to create the ranking. The study considered three criteria: reported paranormal activity, the age of the site and its location. Nightingale Farm received full marks for reported anomalies and was ranked 14th in terms of remoteness.

Accounts associated with the property date back over 30 years and describe mysterious noises, moving furniture and objects apparently flying through the air.

Martin Danemaq, spokesperson for Locals Insider, said the farm came out on top 'thanks to its high frequency of reported paranormal activity and setting'. He noted that Athelhampton House and Brockley Combe also scored highly across the criteria.

Wiltshire dominated the top 10 of the ranking, with four locations earning a spot on the list. Parsonage Wood in Castle Combe scored 31 points and is linked to reports of disembodied voices, groans and ghostly screams in the middle of the night. The Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury also scored 31 points.
