The Milwaukee Brewers' World Series opener against Tampa Bay is forcing schedule changes across Milwaukee sports.
The Milwaukee Brewers' World Series opening game against Tampa Bay on Friday at 7 p.m. is causing schedule disruptions across the city. The Brewers' first World Series appearance in 44 years, following their historic 103-win season, has prompted changes to accommodate fans and competing events.
The Milwaukee Bucks moved their home opener against rival Chicago Bulls from a night slot to 3 p.m. at Fiserv Forum to avoid conflicting with the World Series. High school football, which begins WIAA playoff games on Friday, has been hit harder. Schools are scrambling to reschedule night games. The WIAA has allowed schools flexibility: they can play earlier on Friday or anytime between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, provided both teams agree. The WIAA has already worked with several schools to adjust their schedules.
Milwaukee's Deer District is capitalising on the event, with bars and restaurants offering special promotions. Fans will be able to watch the World Series on a large screen at Deer Garden following the Bucks game, with the Tap Room offering a ticket giveaway for World Series Game 2 on Saturday.
