The Pokémon Company will open its first permanent store outside Asia in London by 2029, with more locations to follow.
The Pokémon Company has announced plans to open a permanent retail store in London by 2029, marking the first permanent Pokémon store outside Asia. The store will feature exclusive merchandise and what the company describes as 'one-of-a-kind experiences' for fans.
Until now, Pokémon fans outside Asia have relied on pop-up stores to shop for branded merchandise. The UK has hosted several temporary locations in recent years, including one at the Natural History Museum and others during Pokémon European International Championships events. Past pop-ups have also appeared at ExCeL London and Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, though the location of the permanent store has not yet been announced.
Gaku Susai, chief product and experience officer at The Pokémon Company International, said: 'We are always exploring new opportunities that help us create unique and memorable experiences for our fans. This new London store will give visitors the chance to step into the world of Pokémon, whether they're discovering the brand for the first time or have been Trainers for years.'
The London store will be the first of several permanent Pokémon locations planned outside Asia. The company has said it will reveal details about additional store locations in the future, though no other sites or timelines have been announced yet.
