Former Melbourne captain Jack Viney must decide whether to join West Coast or remain with Essendon.

Former Melbourne captain Jack Viney must choose in the coming days between joining West Coast or remaining with Essendon. West Coast list boss Matt Clarke said the club is assessing both Viney and premiership midfielder Gryan Miers for potential moves west.

Clarke indicated that a trade for Miers is unlikely despite the player undergoing a medical with the Eagles. The decisions come as the AFL trade period opens, with Viney's move narrowing the clubs pursuing the premiership midfielder.
