Alejandro Davidovich Fokina rallied from a set and break down to beat Rafael Jodar and win the Shanghai Masters.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina rallied from a set and a break down to beat fellow Spaniard Rafael Jodar 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 and win the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. The victory is the 25th-seeded Davidovich Fokina's biggest career title and his third of the year. His other 2026 titles came on grass in Mallorca in June and at the Chengdu Open in China last month, both ATP 250 tournaments.

Davidovich Fokina had lost his first five career finals, including the Monte Carlo Masters in 2022. Earlier in the Shanghai tournament, he saved a match point in the third round against Frances Tiafoe and rallied from a set down against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. After claiming the trophy, Davidovich Fokina said: 'I don't have any words right now. I have a blank mind. I don't know what to say and I don't know how I feel. Just a huge relief.'

Jodar, 20 and seeded 12th, was also appearing in his first Masters 1000 final. He had dominated the opening set but could not maintain that form as Davidovich Fokina's court speed and retrieving skills proved decisive.
