Barcelona and Real Madrid meet in El Clasico with Barcelona six points clear at the top of La Liga.

Barcelona and Real Madrid meet in El Clasico at Camp Nou with Barcelona six points clear at the top of La Liga. The fixture comes amid escalating tensions between Real Madrid and La Liga president Javier Tebas over refereeing controversies and the treatment of the clubs.

Real Madrid issued an official statement last Friday demanding Tebas's resignation after he compared their criticism of referees through their in-house television channel to 'propaganda techniques' used by the Nazis during the second world war. Real Madrid called the language used by Tebas 'deeply offensive' and 'morally repugnant'. Tebas responded with a lengthy social media post accusing Real Madrid of 'intimidation' and seeking to 'destroy' the Spanish league. Barcelona president Joan Laporta also weighed in, criticising Real Madrid for 'constantly attacking' La Liga and praising Tebas for being a 'counter' to Madrid's accusations.

The row has intensified an already contentious relationship between the clubs. Real Madrid supporters unveiled a banner during their home win over Sevilla playing on a La Liga marketing slogan with the message: 'It's not football, it's Tebas and Negreira', referring to ongoing disputes over refereeing and the Negreira case involving Barcelona.

Both sides will be weakened by absences. Real Madrid will miss Vinicius Junior, who remains suspended after being sent off against Villarreal, along with injured players Ferland Mendy, Raul Asencio and Rodrygo. Barcelona will be without Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia, with Jules Kounde a doubt due to an ankle injury.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho will need to reshuffle his side, with Arda Guler expected to play on the wing, Bernardo Silva filling in at the base of midfield, Yan Diomande on the opposite flank, and Fede Valverde deployed as a right-back.
